Triple 9 Challenge to Support Families in Crisis!
9 Years Training, 9 Years Advocating & 9 Marathons. Now 2X the Impact!
Our fourth year partnering with the Denver Colfax race weekend to spread awareness about mental illness and provide resources to families experiencing mental health crises is a special one!
Why the Triple 9 Challenge?
This year's race is Nickole's (our co-founder) 9th full marathon, occurring just one day before her medical school graduation! This milestone race commemorates her 9 years of MD/PhD training AND SeizingPsych's 9th anniversary. To celebrate this 'Triple 9' milestone, a generous donor is matching your donations to double the impact for families in crisis!
The Match is On: Double Your Donation!
To honor these 9 years of MD/PhD training and advocacy, we have a goal to raise $10,000. The best part? The first $5,000 is MATCHED! When you give today, your impact is instantly doubled.
In addition to giving, you can always support us by registering to run any race in May - including the 5K! To run or walk with SeizingPsych, register for any race here and you will automatically be added to the SeizingPsych team! Team members will be contacted to receive free SeizingPsych swag.
Whether you donate or run, thank you for your support!
Making the Difference
SeizingPsych, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation assisting in-need individuals and families living with a severe mental illness through grants in times of financial crisis, as well as facilitation of resources, educational materials, and related services. This programming focuses on recovery and helping people gain and live independent lives. We also offer free, interactive, advocacy and educational programs to encourage community awareness regarding severe brain illnesses. By initiating engaging discussions in the community about mental health and illness we aim to minimize stigma and empower community members to join our call to action.
Programming includes:
Crisis Grants:
Assist individuals and families via financial grants with expenses including but not limited to psychiatric and medical expenses, household, utility, daily necessity expense relief on an as needed, individually assessed basis.
1:1 Support & Caregiver Support Groups
SeizingPsych volunteers engage with families on a one-on-one basis to provide support and personalized resource recommendations based on each family's circumstances. Further, caregivers of those living with mental illness across the country join our volunteer support group facilitators each month to engage in peer support and find a community that better understands their journey.
Adopt-A-Family Holiday Campaign:
Each year we adopt 1 or more family experiencing hardship due to the financial strain of living with a mental illness. Families provide wishlists for children and caregivers and SeizingPsych in collaboration with local businesses and generous donors fill the list and deliver the items to the families for the holiday.
Survival Kit Campaign:
Approximately 21% of individuals experiencing homelessness in the U.S. have a serious mental illness. SeizingPsych creates and distributes survival kits containing water bottles, granola bars, fruit, sunscreen, wet wipes, Band-Aids and seasonal essentials to be distributed to people experiencing houselessness.
Mental Health Education and Awareness:
Interactive educational programs and presentations delivered to community organizations, schools, first responders and practitioners to reduce stigma and advance awareness regarding brain illnesses, treatment, and recovery among other topics.
